  • Name:Aparna Srinivasan
  • What Do You Do:Entrepreneur
  • Ethnicity:Indian
  • Tell me about yourself, and what you do:I have always been one to challenge norms, and in doing so fell into Entrepreneurship. Building something thing from the ground up has been what drives me. As an Entrepreneur, you are solving problems in a creative way. The love for my dogs made me start Spoton.pet, the hub of pet mobility. In NYC, we offer a ride-hailing service providing accompanied and un-accompanied rides for pets and the people who love them. SpotOn is the ONLY female funded ride-hailing company in NYC.
  • Why did you choose to work in this field?:
  • Was there a particular incident that ended up confirming your choice in career?:The desire to solve problems in a way that is not currently being done
  • How do you think that this career has affected your connection to the idea of being “Asian”, and what does that mean to you?:Being a start-up founder is out of the norm for the Asian culture, because it’s not the "safe“ path. But I do see this changing. More and more women, women of color in fact, are diverging from the "safe path" to blaze a trail of their own.
  • Who is someone who has inspired you through your journey?:All in all, I wouldn't be where I am without the support of my family. But when it comes to business and entrepreneurship, it must be my Brother-in-law.
  • What is some advice you can offer to young girls who are hoping to be where you are right now?:Being a start-up founder is a calling. You must have a burning desire to solve an existing problem in a way that is not being done. You will likely have more people doubting you, but don't let that stop you. But before you jump in headfirst, do your research. Know your market
